Logging into Library Media Center Computers

All students must use their own individual login names and passwords when using LMC computers. Usernames usually consist of the following:

The letter 's'   + the last two digits of the year you will graduate + the first 6 letters of your last name

+ the first two letters of your first name:

If you are a 10th grader, with the last name Coleman, and first name Marie, your username will be:

s17colemama

If your last name consists of fewer than 6 letters, add more letters to your first name so you have a total of 8 letters in your login. 

Example: Ward, Gregory 

s16wardgreg

Your password is your school id number.

 

Library Computer Usage Rules & Procedures

Remember to always log into computers using your own username. If the previous user did not log out, you must log them out before using the computer. 

Always log out when you are finished using a computer.

You and your parent/guardian must sign and return the District Internet Acceptable Use Agreement before using library computers.

You are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette outlined in the Internet Acceptable Use Agreement:

      These include (but are not limited to) the following: 

a)    Be polite. Do not get abusive in your messages to others.  

b)    Use appropriate language. Do not swear, use vulgarities or any other inappropriate language.

c)    Illegal activities are strictly forbidden.

d)    Do not reveal your personal address or phone numbers of students or colleagues.

e)    Note that electronic mail (e-mail) is not guaranteed to be private. People who operate the system do have   access to all mail. Messages relating to or in support of illegal activities may be reported to the authorities. 

f)    Do not use the network in such a way that you would disrupt the use of the network by other users.

g)    All communications and information accessible via the network should be assumed to be
private properly.

h)    Avoid the use of bullying tactics

Logging Into Genesis

You may log into the parent/student Genesis portal to check your grades and attendance. Do not use the teacher portal. Look for the "Genesis Parent/Student Portal" link on the Orange High School website.

 

Your Genesis username is the same as your computer login with the extention "@students.orange.k12.nj.us" added. 

 

Example:

If your computer login username is s16colemame, your genesis username is:

 

s16colemame@students.orange.k12.nj.us

 

Your password is still your student ID number.
